EU Elections 2014, Letter to MP

As part of our campaign for the 2014 European Union elections; Here is the Body of Text which may form the basis of a submission to an MP. It may be copied and pasted, used as presented or edited for individual preference.

The purpose of this letter is to highlight with yourself, and your respective Political Party of my awareness of the upcoming European Elections on 22nd May 2014, and the UK General Election 2015.

Respectfully one requests that you support the Rights, Liberties and Freedoms of UK shooters by expressing your intention to lobby against any further unwarranted restriction to be imposed in a country that already has some of the tightest controls on private firearms ownership and use anywhere in the world.

As a Member of Parliament representing my interests through the democratic process one personally feels that any elected Parliamentary member who themselves feel unable to support UK based shooting in its entirety and unable to resist any further legislation European or Domestic limiting rights, liberties and freedoms will no longer be in receipt of any voting right afforded oneself as a UK subject and exercised at the polling booth.

Closer to the UK General Election 2015 I will write to you again to remind you of my point of view and how it may influence my voting decisions. I have also made written submission on this subject to the Member of the European Parliament representing my interests.

Please join with me to promote the safe, responsible ownership and use of firearms with the minimum of restriction and let us together continue to contribute to the wealth and prosperity of the UK.

May I thank you in anticipation of an objective approach to this subject.

Sincerely

EU Elections 2014, Letter to MEP

As part of our campaign for the 2014 European Union elections; Here is the Body of Text which may form the basis of a submission to an MEP. It may be copied and pasted, used as presented or edited for individual preference.

The purpose of this letter is to highlight with yourself, and your respective Political Party of my awareness of the upcoming European Elections on 22nd May 2014.

The European Union, in addition to certain domestic parties propose and encourage further detrimental action towards the shooting sports and discipline’s, and an individuals’ Rights, Liberties and Freedoms in relation to private firearms ownership.

Shooting Organisations have written directly to the European Commission expressing their dismay that UK private firearms owners, as law abiding people are once again under potential attack for no legitimate reason, the proposed EU onslaught likely emanating as a result of a biased and subjective EU survey on criminal firearms activity of which one is confident you are aware.

Respectfully one requests that you support UK shooters by expressing your intention to lobby against any further unwarranted restriction to be imposed in a country that already has some of the tightest controls on private firearms ownership and use anywhere in the world.

As an MEP representing my interests through the democratic process one personally feels that any elected European Parliamentary member who themselves feel unable to support UK based shooting in its entirety and unable to resist any further legislation from the EU limiting Rights, Liberties and Freedoms will no longer be in receipt of any voting right afforded to myself as a UK subject, and exercised at the polling booth.

Please join with me to promote the safe, responsible ownership and use of firearms with the minimum of restriction and let us together continue to contribute to the wealth and prosperity of the UK.

May I thank you in anticipation of an objective, and positive approach to this subject.

Sincerely

No to Airgun Licencing, England & Wales

Bellow you will find an example of a letter you can send to your MP. The aim of the letter is to register your opposition to the licencing of Airguns, both in Scotland and in England and Wales. Crucially you can also use such a letter to request your MP to support lawful airgun owners, and to not support any proposals to introduce similar legislative changes as that suggested by the Scottish government for England and Wales.

To find out who your local MP is we recommend the use of a website called “WriteToThem”. On the website you simply enter in your postcode and it’ll provide you with details of your MP and offer a “letter mailing service”.

Dear Sir or Madam

I write to register my increasing concern with you over the events that have been taking place in Scotland over the issue of airgun licencing. Despite crime involving airguns being statistically insignificant the Scottish government are transfixed on forcing unnecessary and ill thought out restrictions against strong opposition, including a petition signed by over fourteen thousand.

My concerns are that regardless of the eventual outcome for Scottish airgunners, the proposals alone by the Scottish government will incite equally unfounded calls for similar measures to be applied in England and Wales. Airgun owners, as with legal firearms owners are overwhelmingly safe, responsible and law abiding people who just wish to pursue their hobbies or sport without needless bureaucracy and expense, which inevitably has a disproportionate impact on newcomers to the sport and those on a lower income.

I would ask that you do what you can to ensure your law abiding constituents don’t have to face similar discriminatory encroachments. Existing legislation is more than adequate to cater for any incidents of airgun misuse, as such I hope you agree that such proposals are not necessary and are a waste of resources, which can be better spent on genuine threats to public safety.

Yours sincerely,

Land Authority Form

We have produced a “Land Authority Form” which you may use for confirming, in writing, the details of your shooting permission. We recommend that you carry a copy of the signed form with you when out shooting, perhaps as a scan or photograph on your mobile phone.

The form may be used to provide evidence of “good reason” during Shotgun/Firearms Certificate grants and renewals. For those on their first Firearms Certificate the form may also be used to notify your local Firearms Licensing Department of new shooting permission obtained. N.B. This should be done prior to you shooting on the new permission.

Supporting Letter to Gun Shops

Today we have begun e-mailing stockists of airguns asking them to support us and sign the No to Airgun Licensing in England & Wales petition. To take this further we have drafted an example letter which we have made available as a download, and we ask that you e-mail or post this or something similar to your local gun shops and airgun stockists. We would like as many people as possible to get involved on the Facebook page and sign the petition, through this we will be in the best position to halt another potential onslaught to our rights.

Once you confirm with us that a gun shop or other airgun stockist has stood with us and signed the campaign petition, as a thank you we will provide a link to their website and recommend them on our Appreciated… Gun Shops page, which is accessible on the left hand navigation menu.
